In general, a visitor to Hsinchu City should buy a flight ticket to Taipei (TPE), but it should be noticed that the airplane would arrive at "Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (IATA: TPE, ICAO: RCTP)", which is located at "Taoyuan", not Taipei. Note that the location of "Taoyuan" is between "Taipei" and "Hsinchu", i.e., from the north to the south, "Taipei"-"Taoyuan"-"Hsinchu". Hence, the simplest way from the airport to Hsinchu is to take a taxi, and the cost is about NT$ 1600 (more than US$ 50).

A lower-cost alternative is to take the mass rapid transit (MRT) system (NT$25; about US$1) or a shuttle bus (NT$ 30; about US$ 1) or a taxi (NT$ 350; about US$ 10) to Taiwan High Speed Rail Taoyuan Station, then to take the Taiwan High Speed Rail to Taiwan High Speed Rail Hsinchu Station (NT$130; about US$ 4), and then to take a shuttle bus (NT$ 15; about US$ 0.5) (bus No. 182) or a taxi (NT$ 260; about US$ 8) or a train (NT$ 16; about US$ 0.5) to the Hsinchu city downtown or NYCU.
